Julie L. LaLuzerne is a life-long member of the Door County community. She was recently named the 2019 Door County Volunteer Center Golden Heart Award winner for the Karl May Lifetime Achievement category. Julie was also recognized in April, 2018 by the Sturgeon Bay School Board of Directors for the Door County Therapy Dog Program she started. She has spearheaded and is the Door County Therapy Dog Coordinator for the Sturgeon Bay Schools’, Southern Door Schools’, and Sevastopol Schools’ therapy dog programs. Julie is a champion for therapy dog programs and is an experienced therapy dog owner. She has been an essential partner in planning and executing the program in assisted living homes as well as schools. Therapy dog teams are currently placed at assisted living homes, hospitals, schools, and other locations that need or want therapy dog teams.
